Prince George's regular city council meeting set for Monday, Dec. 2 will have just one item on the agenda: social issues affecting the community.
During its previous meeting on Nov. 18, council resolved to hold a public consultation to receive feedback from the public on key issues, gaps and the work that is needed to address social issues throughout Prince George with a focus on the downtown core.
The city says the feedback gathered at the meeting will inform council’s budget deliberations for 2020, as well as its coordination with partners and other levels of government.
Following formal presentations by the city, Prince George RCMP and Northern Health, members of the public will be invited to present to council.
The city says to ensure that everyone has a fair and equal opportunity to provide input, there will be a five- to 10-minute time limit.
Following initial comments, Mayor Lyn Hall and councillors will hear from persons wishing to speak for a second time to provide new information.
Those who are unable to attend the meeting or do not wish to speak in public are can submit a written statement.
Submissions, due by Noon this Monday, can be emailed in advance to the city clerk at [email protected] or brought to the fifth floor of City Hall.
Any submissions received after this time will be collected and shared with council the following day.
The city says all submissions will be added to the official record of the meeting.
The meeting will also be live-streamed on the city’s website starting at 6 p.m. and taking place in council chambers on the second floor of Prince George City Hall (1100 Patricia Blvd.).
