Fort St. James will have a new multi-use community centre, thanks to a grant from the provincial government.
The Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development announced a $500,000 grant to the district on Thursday for the centre. The facility would be the first of its kind in the rural community north of Vanderhoof.
"Fort St. James has been working incredibly hard on attracting people to the area in support of the Mt. Milligan Mine project," Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad said. "The grant application was about establishing a community centre that will enhance the quality of life for people in the area. Fort St. James has always had lots to offer and this is a great step forward for the entire community."
