Province doles out gaming grants to P.G. groups

The province granted three Prince George groups over $40,000 on Wednesday from a fund of $1.3 million in community gaming grants. The Prince George Amateur Radio Club received $14,738, the Prince George Crime Stoppers Association $13,000 and the St.

The province granted three Prince George groups over $40,000 on Wednesday from a fund of $1.3 million in community gaming grants.

The Prince George Amateur Radio Club received $14,738, the Prince George Crime Stoppers Association $13,000 and the St. John Society (British Columbia and Yukon) Prince George Branch $15,000.

The groups were three of fifty local organizations located in 37 communities who received the money, which was designated for public safety.

Five province-wide organizations also received the gaming grants: the British Columbia Search and Rescue Association ($250,000), the Canadian Avalanche Centre ($150,000), Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association $42,000, Canadian Coast Auxiliary (Pacific), Inc. ($225,000), and the Emergency Social Services Association of British Columbia ($30,000).
