Timed to coincide with the Olympic torch relay, the school district office Ferry Avenue will be the site of a peaceful protest against the pending closure of Prince George area schools on Friday.
With the torch relay to start at 5 p.m. at Van Bien School, just a block away, organizers are urging concerned parents and students to meet at the office at 4:30 p.m. with signs and banners.
The idea is to send a message to the provincial government that "cuts hurt kids," organizers say.
