Prosecutor attacked at PG courthouse

A B.C. Crown prosecutor was attacked outside the Prince George courthouse this morning, by a man believed to have come from a nearby men's shelter. At approximately 8:20 a.m.

A B.C. Crown prosecutor was attacked outside the Prince George courthouse this morning, by a man believed to have come from a nearby men's shelter.

At approximately 8:20 a.m. Prince George RCMP were called to the men's shelter to a report of a man causing a disturbance. Witnesses told police he was being violent towards staff members but had since left the area.

Shortly thereafter at approximately 8:30 a.m., police were called to the front steps of the Prince George courthouse on George Street to report an assault.

Prince George Sheriff Deputies had one male in custody after he assaulted a Crown prosecutor on the front steps of the law courts. The unnamed victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was transported to the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia for medical treatment.

Prince George RCMP have a 40-year-old male in custody who is known to police and he will be facing a number of charges including aggravated assault.
