Propane truck fire now out

The days-long fire spewing from a propane truck on Highway 16 has been put out.

The days-long fire spewing from a propane truck on Highway 16 has been put out. The incident is now in the vehicle recovery phase, so Highway 16 is still not fully open between Prince George and McBride, but single-lane alternating traffic is being allowed through.

Crews are in the process of gathering the remains of the B-train tractor-trailer that was pulling a load of propane when it somehow went off the road and ignited on Tuesday night. The crash happened near the Dome Creek Bridge. No other vehicles were involved. The driver of the propane truck was injured but has since been discharged from hospital.

It took until Saturday for the fire to stop burning. During that time, although there were times that single-lane alternating traffic was sometimes allowed to flow, most vehicles were rerouted via Highway 24, between Little Fort and 100 Mile House.
