School board trustees voted to bring the professional development fund administrator back up to a half-time position during their meeting Tuesday night.
Chairperson Sharel Warrington said the position was funded at quarter-time during the current school year, and "has tested the respectful and collaborative relationship" between the school board and the district's teachers.
"The board has received numerous, and I say numerous, letters requesting we protect the pro-D fund administrator position for this year and I believe we need to be paying very close attention to those requests," Warrington said.
The motion also called for school district senior staff to meet with the Prince George and District Teachers Association early in the 2014-15 school year to discuss the future of the position.
Trustees voted 6-0 in favour of restoring the position to half-time. Trustee Kate Cooke abstained because her husband, a teacher, holds the position.
The $22,500 required to bring the position back up to half-time will come from the services and supplies budget.
