Prince George's Father's Day Show and Shine sees format changes due to COVID-19

Format will accommodate safety regulations

The Prince George Father's Day Show and Shine this year is going to look a little different.

Due to COVID-19, vehicles will parade through the city on Sunday, June 21 instead of parking in one location where spectators could view hot rods, street rods, old muscle, new muscle and others.

For 2020, the event will be named 'Father's Day COVID Cruise for a Cause,' with parade participants being asked to make a cash donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Participants can give any amount they feel comfortable with and can afford.

Anyone that participates has to stay in their car or on their bike for staging before leaving for the parade.

The organizing committee says failure to do so will push the brake on those person(s) participation. Officials also say that nobody can be invited to the staging areas to view any cars.

Participants are asked to enter the parking lot at the CN Centre through 18th Avenue between 12:15 and 12:45 p.m., but no earlier.

Cars and bikes will leave the parking lot at 1 p.m. on June 21.
