Prince George’s winter music festival Coldsnap has been rescheduled for March 25 to April 2.
The festival typically takes place in January, but was postponed this year due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
The organizers say they took a brief hiatus to regroup and are now going forward with the festival from March 25 to April 2.
The festival will begin at the Uda Dune Baiyoh (The House of Ancestors Conference Hall) from March 25 to 27 where the music will kick off with a Celtic Rockin’ good time with Early Spirit and finish on Sunday with the one and only Boom Booms!
The famous Coldsnap for Kids concert will take place on Sunday, March 27 with Kym Gouchie. Then starting on March 30 the festival moves over to the Knox Performance Venue at Trinity United Downtown Campus where Muray Porter, Maria Dunn, Linda McRae, Clerel and Karl Wyssen as well as many others will perform.
During the week, from Monday to Friday Coldsnap will also be holding free workshops at Omineca Arts Centre.
Tickets will be available for live performances which will have a reduced capacity audience and each show will also be livestreamed to watch from home for a nominal fee. However, workshops will be free to attend both in-person and online.
“The safety of our audience, artists, volunteers, crew and staff remains paramount and we still need to stay flexible in our presentation and plans. But we are very excited and grateful to be able to present Coldsnap 2022 with all the support we have received from our funders, sponsors, members, volunteers and patrons! The performers are all very excited to have the opportunity to play live in Prince George!” said organizer Dwight Wolfe in a press release.
Those interested should stay tuned to the Coldsnap website and social media channels for details about the artists the schedule and the safety protocols.
The workshops are still being finalized but tickets for evening shows in-person and livestream are available now.
