Prince George comes to life in the dead of winter thanks to Cold Snap, the city’s annual winter music festival.

Cold Snap has released the lineup for this year’s festival, and it features over 20 musicians from across the country, around the world and right here in northern B.C.

The festival takes place from Jan. 25 to Feb. 2 and will feature a week of concerts and workshops from a variety of talented musicians.

At this year’s festival, you’ll be able to check out The Jerry Cans, who create music inspired by their hometown Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Their music is a mix of Inuktitut alt-country, throat singing and reggae. They perform many of their songs in Inuktitut and are passionate about preserving the language, notes an event write-up. The songs challenge misrepresentations about life in the Arctic.

The Jerry Cans will also be joined by the Ryan McNally Trio and local group the Khast’an Mens Drummers will also join The Jerry Cans during the Friday night concert.

Also performing is Juno award-winning Elliot Brood, a three-piece, folk-rock, alt-country band based in Hamilton, Ont. The band has five acclaimed records and their unique brand of roots music has been called everything from "blackgrass" to "death country."

Elliot Brood is joined for the Saturday night performance by Prince Rupert-born Tsimshian folk artist Saltwater Hank and first-place International Songwriting Competition winners Big Little Lions.

As the festival features a full week of events and workshops, audiences can take in everything from a children’s performance to blues and classical concerts.

On the event website, you’ll be able to find the full lineup and the community outreach event schedule, and purchase tickets.
