It's a good update for Luna, who was found with a gunshot wound and half of her jaw missing earlier this month.

The North Cariboo District SPCA says Luna, also known as the Blackwater Boxer, is recovering well in a foster home.

In a Facebook post, the SPCA adds she went through surgery to fix her jaw with "flying colours."

"She successfully went through surgery and they were able to restore her jaw as much as possible," Manager of Animal Centre Services at North Cariboo District SPCA, Alex Schare said in an email to PrinceGeorgeMatters. "She is now in a foster home and is a total sweetheart who loves the people, dogs, and cat in the household."

Luna, three years old, was found wandering Blackwater Road with a gunshot that resulted in the dog losing half of her jaw.

Officials are confident she will be able to regain a large degree of function in her jaw although it will never be back to 100 per cent.

They add she should be able to do most dog activities including eating, drinking and picking up a ball.

"Thank you all so much for your support and care for Luna," the post reads. "She's incredibly blessed to have so much support and we couldn't do our work and get Luna the help she needed without it."
