There were more people working in Prince George last month.
According to numbers released by Stats Canada today (July 5), the unemployment rate for June was 4.2 per cent compared to 4.7 per cent in May.
Provincially, B.C. leads Canada with the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 4.5 per cent last month.
The unemployment rate nationally sits at 5.5 per cent, which is a slight raise of 0.1 points from the May numbers.
Health care and social assistance saw a large boost in Canada, growing by 22,000 jobs in June, which is similar to numbers produced in May.
British Columbia led the nation for the most employment increase in the industry.
However, the province, alongside Quebec, had a country-high negative stat, losing 15,000 jobs in "other services."
Employment in manufacturing also saw a drop in employment, down by 15,000 jobs.
Several provinces had declines with B.C., Quebec, and Alberta being the most notable.
Ages 55-and-over saw a large increase in jobs with an increase of 22,000 in June.
