The unemployment rate continues to go in the wrong direction with another increase in Prince George last month.
A report released by Statistics Canada today (March 8) show that Prince George sat at 6.4 per cent in February after a 6.0 percentage in January.
The national rate stayed the same from January at 5.8 per cent while British Columbia saw a decrease in unemployment, finishing February with a 4.5 per cent unemployment rate compared to January which was 4.7 per cent.
While the unemployment rate in Canada stayed the same, Stats Canada says 56,000 jobs were added, mainly driven by full-time work.
More were employed in professional, scientific and technical services; public administration; natural resources; and agriculture.
Fewer workers were noted in accommodation, food services and transportation, and warehousing.
Those employed from ages 25 to 54, very little changed with the unemployment rate for that demographic at 4.8 per cent while ages 15 to 24 saw 29,000 more employed last month with an unemployment rate recorded at 10.8 per cent.
