The city will be answering more questions about a first-of-its-kind housing development earmarked for First Avenue.

A second public info session is slated to give the public more information on the proposed integrated health services and affordable housing development at the current location of NR Motors on First Avenue.

The concept provides for approximately 100 units of housing together with healthcare services that would be accessible to residents and the general public. B.C. Housing, the City of Prince George and Northern Health are all collaborating on the project which aims to provide new affordable housing and health-care services under one roof for people experiencing homelessness, mental health, and addiction issues.

The first phase would include approximately 50 supportive homes for people experiencing homelessness and the second phase would include 50 affordable rental homes for low-to-moderate-income individuals and families.

To facilitate the development, council would need to rezone the property and amend the Official Community Plan. The proposed changes will be outlined at the information session.

The first public information session regarding the development was held on Sept. 11, in 2019.

The upcoming session will be held on Jan. 15 between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room at City Hall (1100 Patricia Blvd.). Representatives of B.C. Housing, Northern Health and the City of Prince George will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. There will be a presentation at 6:30 p.m.

If you are not able to attend the information session you can access information about the proposal or post a question online.
