Prince George high school students may be eligible for an educational travel grant.
The company EF Educational Tours Canada has announced the launch of its Canadian Global Citizen Fund where its committed $1 million to make educational travel opportunities more accessible.
The Canadian Global Citizens Fund was created in consultation with Canadian school boards and community organizations to bring these experiences within reach for students who would not otherwise get the opportunity to travel.
Beginning this school year (2022/2023), the fund will support 500 students over the next four years in school communities nationwide that are in need of financial support and have identified travel-based learning as a priority, which may include schools in Prince George.
EF says it is currently working with over 30 schools across Canada to confirm their eligibility in the fund.
The Canadian Global Citizens Fund is a community-owned and led initiative— students are selected at the discretion of their school administration and in close consultation with the educators who are leading the travel group.
Educational leaders in the selected schools will be encouraged to select the students for whom the fund will deliver the most positive impact.
The fund will cover the majority of students’ travel costs, giving them the ability to experience the life-changing impact of educational travel.
EF is encouraging educators who are interested in potential inclusion in the fund to connect with their team by visiting eftours.ca/fund or emailing [email protected].
