WestJet is reducing domestic service by about 50 percent, decreasing frequency to 38 cities across Canada. Prince George, however, will still see daily service between Vancouver and Calgary.

“We have proudly served Canadians for more than 24 years and we are committed to providing them critical economic connectivity during this difficult time,” says Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO, in a statement. “Frequency may be reduced, but we pledge to be there for Canadians as long as possible to keep connections open and vital goods moving across our country.”

For Prince George, WestJet will operate once daily between Calgary and Prince George and once daily between Prince George and Calgary. It will operate three times daily between Prince George and Vancouver and three times daily between Vancouver and Prince George.

The new schedule takes effect today (March 22) and runs until April 21, 2020. These adjustments are temporary and could change as more information becomes known.

WestJet continues to monitor developments and says further schedule adjustments are possible in the short-term.

The company says start dates for all seasonal routes in Canada have also been delayed.

On March 21, Air Canada announced temporary route suspensions affecting routes across North America and within Canada but no Prince George routes were affected in that announcement.

Central Mountain Air, which also operates out of the Prince George Airport, has also announced changes to its schedule and operations. Friday to Sunday flights are suspended. A list of flights still available can be found HERE.
