Prince George Spruce Kings Show Home now open for public viewing with COVID-19 guidelines

Residents must complete self-screening questionnaire before visiting $670K house

For the first time since it was unveiled in November, Prince George residents are now able to see the new Spruce Kings Show Home in person.

The $670,000 Aberdeen Glen-area residence is open for public viewing, now with one month to go before someone will win it all on April 30.

COVID-19 health and safety guidelines are in place to avoid any potential transmission.

“We’re a touchless Show Home,” explains Manager Liz Bennett in a social media post.

“So we ask you to please not touch the furniture, please not touch light switches or handles; due to the provincial health situation, we’re trying to be really cautious. We also have a maximum of four people in the house at a time, and our ticket sellers will be in the garage. So you can come here, you can purchase tickets; just monitor your hands and not touch things.”

In addition, those interested in seeing the 39th Show Home up close must complete a self-screening test before making a visit.

Organizers are asking the public to postpone all trips to 2754 Links Drive if you answer ‘yes’ to the following questions:

  • Have you experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days?
  • Have you been identified by Public Health as a close contact of someone with COVID-19?
  • Have you been directed by Public Health to self-isolate?
  • Have you arrived from outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

Masks are also to be worn at all times, which complies with B.C.’s mandatory public health order for all indoor public and retail spaces, and hand sanitization is requested before entering.

According to the Show Home’s guidelines, viewings should be no more than 20 minutes, plus up to five minutes for purchasing tickets in the garage.

For a full list of COVID-19 protocols, you can visit the Spruce Kings’ Show Home Lottery’s website.

Virtual tours are still available for those not yet comfortable with going in person.

As of this publication (March 29), there are 3,500 tickets remaining for the Show Home, which means about 68 per cent of the 11,000 tickets are sold.

It was built by Hopson Construction, is 2,600 sq. ft. in size, includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an office, a two-door garage and a vaulted ceiling, and also comes complete with home decor, furniture and up-to-date appliances.

There are 3,604 tickets left for the second Mega 50/50 Jackpot, meaning the current take-home prize sits at nearly $55,000.

A winner will also be selected on April 30.

Cerry Nash, ticket #18272, won the first pot of $100,000 thanks to a sold-out lottery, and Spruce Kings Show Home organizers are hoping to give away the same amount to another lucky person.

Tickets for the Show Home are $125 each, while Mega 50/50 tickets are $25 each.

The third and final early-bird prize, a PB Sports and Evolve mountain bike and gift certificate valued at $1,000, is scheduled to be drawn April 9.

David Wood, ticket #2227, won the first early-bird prize draw on Jan. 1, claiming 100 extra Mega 50/50 tickets valued at $2,500.

Sherry Boerdyk, ticket #2621, took home a $1,500 Prince George restaurant pack in the second early prize on Feb. 26.
