The 2018-19 season ends in one month for the Prince George Spruce Kings before the start of the B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) playoffs.

That’s arguably enough time for goaltender Logan Neaton to get prepped and ready, while also maintaining some outstanding feats for a rookie.

Through the team’s first 45 games, the 19-year-old has started in 37 of them, compiling 23 wins to put him in a tie for the most in the league with Penticton’s Jack LaFontaine.

That’s a 62 per cent winning percentage, which could come in handy depending on where the Spruce Kings rank in the Mainland Division after the final buzzer on February 23rd.

The American import from Brighton, Michigan posts the top goals-against-average (GAA) in the BCHL at 2.01.

Neaton’s home record at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA) is 13-4, while his road streak stands at 10-3.

He also has three shutouts on the year, two of them on the road in Powell River (Nov. 16) and Surrey (Dec. 21).

Unfortunately for Prince George, Neaton won’t be back next season as he’s committed to NCAA Division One hockey at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell starting in September.

So you can count on the Spruce Kings to use him a lot in the final 13-game stretch as he’s already helped the team secure a spot in the Fred Page Cup playoffs.

Currently, Prince George sits second in their division with 60 points (27-12-1-5), five points behind top-seeded Chilliwack.

The Spruce Kings begin another four-game home stint this weekend taking on the Coquitlam Express tonight (7 p.m.) and tomorrow (7 p.m.), followed by a doubleheader against the last-place Surrey Eagles Feb. 1 and 2.
