Just like their Cougar counterparts, the Prince George Spruce Kings were held off the scoresheet Friday night (Jan. 24).

While in Surrey, the defending BCHL champions beat the Eagles on the shot clock, 35-25, but were not able to find the back of the net.

The 3-0 final puts Prince George at 1-1 on their six-game road swing.

Carter Woodside made his 12th start between the pipes for the Spruce Kings, turning away 22 of 25 shots yesterday.

Cristophe Tellier notched two points, including the game’s first marker while on a power-play 6:35 into the second period.

Hassan Akl and Hudson Schandor were the other goal-scorers.

The Spruce Kings record falls to 16-25-2-3 with a dozen games left on the season.

If the Fred Page Cup Playoffs started today (Jan. 25) and based on the BCHL’s newest format, Prince George would earn the first wild-card spot and would be crossed over into the Interior Division.

They continue the extended road trip tonight, 7 p.m. in Chilliwack against the Chiefs.
