Prince George sees lower summer building permit numbers

Building permit numbers see a slight dip this summer from last year

The city of Prince George issues monthly building permit reports.

The city’s summer building permit numbers continue to stagger along.

In June, there were 56 building permits issued for a grand total of $10,334,276.00, compared to 59 permits issued in June 2022 for $14,612,759.07.

That’s a bit more than in May when there were only 38 building permits worth a combined total of $9,289,268.97.

However, July saw with 39 permits issued for a grand total of $8,455,969.2.

The year-to-date for 2023 is 220 permits representing $81,193,515.31, compared to 2022 when the city issued 288 representing $174,744,109.13

Specifically in June, permits were issued for 10 new single-family dwellings with a combined value of $4,936,872.00, five new duplex dwellings valued at $939,260.00, and 13 new multi-family dwellings worth a combined $3,438,760.00.

June also saw permits for two commercial building alterations ($104,000.00), one industrial building alteration ($48,750.00) and one institutional building alteration ($125,000.00).

In July permits were issued for six new single-family dwellings ($2,576,100.00), three new duplex dwellings ($883,700.00), and five new multi-family dwellings ($750,000.00).

July also saw permits for two new commercial buildings ($2,000,000.00), two commercial building alterations ($375,000.00), two industrial building alterations ($135,000.00), and one institutional building alteration ($721,939.23).
