It's a sign that winter is starting to settle in.

The City of Prince George has started its seasonal closures for local parks and recreation areas, starting with Nechako Riverside Park as of yesterday afternoon (Nov. 10).

Its parking lot is now closed to vehicular traffic, as well as its public washroom and entrance off Foothills Boulevard.

These are scheduled to reopen in spring 2021 once the snow melts.

The city says outdoor public washrooms are also closed for the season at the following Prince George parks:

  • Duchess Park
  • Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park
  • Rainbow Park

Tuesday's closure announcement comes more than a month after the city closed Masich Place Stadium and its facilities.

The CN Centre, however, is open for the indoor walking program for those that wish to get their steps in for the winter.

Residents can book a 90-minute session anytime from two days to two hours in advance.

More information on how to register and other walking alternatives can be found on the City of Prince George website.
