Cimo Mediterranean Grill's location at 601 Victoria St. is now listed for lease. The restaurant announced a temporary closure on Jan. 31.

An iconic downtown Prince George eatery has closed its doors.

Cimo Mediterranean Grill has been one of of the city’s top restaurants for more than 20 years, winning multiple Citizen Reader’s Choice Awards.

The restaurant announced a temporary closure on Jan. 31, and now the restaurant’s location at 601 Victoria St. has been listed for rent by Majestic Management.

“It has been a long road, and a tough decision has been made to temporarily close down Cimo Mediterranean Grill on January 31, 2023,” a Jan. 30 post of the restaurant’s social media page said. “This is due to continued lingering effects of Covid-19, as well as staffing shortages. We are looking forward to re-opening in the future to serve you the best Mediterranean food in town; stay tuned to our Facebook page for any information in the future.”

Cimo owner Craig Briere could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
