The Prince George Relay For Life has received a donation from a local return it centre.

PG Recycling and Return-It Centre presented a cheque to Prince George Relay For Life Coordinator Aimee Cassie this morning (Aug. 23) at the depot for a total of $3,488.

"We are so grateful for the support the relay receives from all around Prince George and beyond," she says. "Sponsors go above and beyond and this year was no different."

The local dept has supported the event for the past three years with similar donations.

The funds were collected from charity bins located around Prince George.

The 2019 relay saw a total of 90 teams take part in the Canadian Cancer Society's only 24-hour Relay in Canada

"The volunteers behind the Relay For Life are incredible, and planning for the following event literally begins at the closing ceremonies," Cassie adds.

Donations for the relay can be done online or dropped off at the Canadian Cancer Society office located at 1100 Alward St.
