Prince George Regional Highway Rescue will receive a $115,000 community gaming grant, the provincial government said Tuesday.
The funding will help the organization buy new rescue tools, pay for upgrades and maintenance to the rescue trucks, acquire rescue gear for volunteers and cover ongoing operational and training costs for the rescue department.
PGRHR provides road rescue in the Fraser-Fort George Regional District, including vehicle extrication and rope rescue in response to motor vehicle accidents.
"This funding will go a long way in helping us help the public when auto extrication or over the bank rescue is required," PGRHR chief Keith Laboucan said. "It will keep our doors open and helps us move towards our goal of a long term stable home of our own."
The grants was awarded under the program's human and social services category.
