Prince George RCMP shoot man in stabbing incident

The man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating an incident Wednesday in Prince George where police had to use an energy weapon and then their firearms to subdue a man who had been reportedly stabbing people.

On April 26, shortly before 9 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of a stabbing incident.

Attending officers located a reportedly armed suspect who became aggressive. A conducted energy weapon was deployed, an interaction occurred, and officers discharged their firearms striking the man.

He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim of the initial complaint was also treated at hospital.

The IIO BC is investigating police actions in the incident. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.

Prince George RCMP are conducting a subsequent investigation into the initial assault complaint.
