Yesterday (June 25), Prince George RCMP were passed along an email sent to the City of Prince George, which described a suspicious incident.

The incident, where a man followed a woman while she was out for a run, occurred earlier in the week.

Officers were then able to track down the author of the email.

Police say that on Saturday (June 22) at about 9:30 a.m., the woman was out for a run in the Heritage area of Prince George along a path between Corless Crescent and Claxton Avenue when an unknown male began running to catch up to her.

The woman sped up just before the man was able to catch her.

She continued to run to safety and the man then stopped his pursuit.

Police say although there was no physical contact, the man’s motives are not known.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man.

Anyone with information about the man or with external video surveillance in the area, are urged to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.

Mounties would also like to remind the public that police are not able to take reports via e-mail and that reporting a crime must be done via the telephone or in person and should be done as soon as possible.
