Prince George RCMP searching for wanted man

Local RCMP are searching for Jeffrey Wayne Smith with outstanding arrest warrants for trafficking in a controlled substance and four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Local RCMP are searching for Jeffrey Wayne Smith with outstanding arrest warrants for trafficking in a controlled substance and four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Smith is also wanted in Alberta for assault.

Smith was arrested Dec. 10, 2015 by the local police Street Crew Unit when he was in a vehicle with a 29-year-old male. Heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and a major amount of cash were found in the vehicle. A controlled drugs and substances act search warrant was then conducted at a residence on the 4200 block of Quentin Avenue where more drugs and a replica hand gun were found. Smith was released on a promise to appear for court in Feb. 2016 but was arrested again before the court date.

Feb. 4, 2016 the RCMP Street Crew conducted a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at a residence on the 500 block of Freeman Street where Smith and a 32-year-old female were located and arrested, where a significant amount of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine were located, along with paraphernanila associated with drug trafficking.

Smith was held in custody until April 2016 when he was released on recognizance. Warrants were issued last month and this month after he failed to attend court.

Police need help in locating Smith, who is considered violent and warn citizens not to approach Smith who is a Caucasian male, 5 foot 10 inches tall, weighing 181 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
