Prince George RCMP searching for man wanted in string of northern B.C. identity theft, bank fraud incidents

Police say suspect made substantial withdrawals in Prince George, Quesnel and Williams Lake

Mounties are looking for a man wanted on involvement in a string of fraud incidents throughout northern B.C., including Prince George. 

Cpl. Craig Douglass says police received a report on Sept. 19, 2019, of identity theft and fraud cases in August 2019. 

According to police, the unknown suspect defrauded a local branch of a national bank where he took thousands of dollars while using the identity of a Port Coquitlam, B.C. man. 

Large withdrawals were also made in Quesnel and Williams Lake. 

Douglass says they also believe this suspect travels between communities and has committed similar crimes before.

He may also have ties to the Okanagan and the Lower Mainland. 

The suspect is described as: 

  • Non-white male
  • Approximately 40 to 50 years old 
  • 173 cm (5'8") 
  • 82 kg (180 pounds)
  • Short dark hair with a mustache and goatee

"We are confident that someone will recognize this suspect and help to further our investigation" Douglass adds in a release. 

"Stealing an identity is a tremendously personal crime and this individual needs to be held accountable."
