In the past week, Prince George RCMP say they seized over 200 grams of illicit drugs and a large quantity of cash during two separate investigations.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, shortly before noon, police officers were investigating a break and enter into a fenced compound on the 600-block of Third Avenue. Three people were located inside the compound and detained.

During the investigation, police officers seized more than $700 in cash, as well as a combined total of more than 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. They also seized a prohibited firearm that was located abandoned nearby. The three suspects were released pending further investigation.

Two days later, on Monday, Sept. 18, just before 9 a.m., a frontline police officer on routine patrol located a vehicle traveling well above of the posted speed limit heading southbound on Highway 97 by the scales.

The police officer conducted a traffic stop and observed evidence of drug paraphernalia near the driver. Police seized more than $350 in cash and a combined total of more than 150 grams of suspected crack cocaine, packaged cocaine and cannabis, and a large amount of suspected Xanax pills, from inside the vehicle.

The driver was released at the scene.
