Being there to help someone going through some of the most painful experiences in life can make a larger difference than someone might think.
The Prince George RCMP are looking to increase the local volunteer base and are inviting those interested to come to an information session later this month (April).
Those who work in Victim Services help RCMP officers to devastating and brutal crimes and tragedy.
Victim Services provide support to survivors and loved ones of numerous devastation and traumatic events including murder, sudden death, suicide, assault, sexual assault, and motor vehicle fatalities.
"We have an amazing, close-knit and dedicated team of volunteers but we are a busy unit and need to make sure we have enough people to respond to the needs of our community," Krista Levar, Coordinator of the Unit says. "Volunteers who are accepted into the program are provided with extensive training and a volunteer experience unlike any other."
The recruiting information session for anyone 18 years and older is scheduled for April 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Prince George RCMP Detachment, located at 455 Victoria St.
You are asked to arrive early and bring government-issued photo I.D.
