Prince George RCMP is currently investigating an incident that occurred near Blackburn Elementary School, where students were approached by an unknown driver.

On Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. two students reported to police that they were walking home from school on Blackburn Road North and were engaged in friendly horseplay.

A man driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck stopped and asked the students if they needed a ride home and when the students declined, they said the man appeared to be as though he was getting out of the truck.

“The students then ran home and the driver continued on his own way. We are glad the students followed their instincts in this situation by running away and immediately telling a parent about what occurred. This is exactly what should happen if students are approached by anyone they don’t quickly recognize or know personally,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The driver is described as having a darker complexion and a beard but no mustache. Police officers conducted patrols in the area but were unable to locate a truck matching that description.

Prince George RCMP are now asking that anyone with any information on who the driver is, please contact the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 to speak with an investigator.

The file remains under investigation. If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca.
