Prince George RCMP are investigating an arson that occurred sometime between Friday and Tuesday on the Mackenzie Lookout (Mount Mackenzie) Forest Service Road off Blackwater Road that destroyed three pieces of heavy equipment used for logging.
Employees who left the job site on Friday afternoon returned Tuesday morning to find the three machines destroyed by fire beyond repair. Damage is estimated at $1 million.
The worksite where the crime occurred is remote, about 24 kilometres south of Baldy Hughes, and is not visible from the Forest Service Road.
“We are looking to speak with anyone that was in this area over the weekend who may have noticed some unusual activity or anything suspicious that could assist in this investigation,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.
