Prince George RCMP is gathering donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, and un-wrapped gifts for the Salvation Army with its Cram-A-Cruiser event.

On Saturday, Dec 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mounties and community volunteers will be outside three Save-On-Foods locations throughout Prince George, to see how many times they can cram a police cruiser full of donations in time for the holiday season.

Shoppers are encouraged to grab an extra item or two on their way through the shopping centre to donate on their way back out.

“We will fill our police cruisers with donations as many times as we can during the four hours we are out. All donations will be provided to the Prince George Salvation Army just in time for Christmas. The Salvation Army has been generous in assisting our Victim Services program over the years and this is our way of returning that generosity,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Mounties will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items, cash and gift cards. Some examples of items they are looking for include:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned beans in sauce
  • Rolled or instant oats
  • Canned vegetables
  • Pasta and sauce
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Rice
  • Coffee or tea
  • Canned fish or meat
  • size 5 or 6 diapers and Pull Ups
  • Canned soup
  • Feminine hygiene products

If you are interested in volunteering to help out with this event, please contact the Prince George RCMP Community Policing office at 250-561-3366 for more information.
