Local musician Amy Blanding has released a music video for her song “Rise and Agitate,” which was recorded in the summer with the help of a choir of 40 women from throughout the community.
In the music video description, Blanding says “Rise and Agitate” was created to honour the Prince George Day of Action Against Gender-Based Violence, and to help raise more awareness about Inspiring Women Among Us (IWAU). Sales of this single will also be donated to the IWAU scholarship program.
“Rise and Agitate” is the final song on her debut solo album Down the Line. The music video was filmed at the Knox United Church with the help of local production company 6ix Sigma Productions.
Blanding was originally supposed to debut the music video at this year's IWAU events with a concert-in-the-round and live choral performance featuring Britt A.M., Shara Gustafson, Genevieve Jade and an all-female choir. However, that event has been postponed because of the on-going job action at UNBC.
You can, however, catch Amy Blanding at Good Egg Record’s winter showcase called Boot Weather. Artists from the local label will be playing the Prince George Legion this Saturday. The night will feature Amy Blanding, The Brian Porter, Britt AM, Crones, Danny Bell, Flying Machine, Naomi Kavka and Sean Wesley Wood.
Doors open at 8 p.m. There is a $10 cover.
