A local man is facing charges after being caught in a stolen vehicle while a passenger was arrested, but later released.
Prince George RCMP says on Tuesday (July 2) at roughly 6:45 p.m., they received a report of a stolen vehicle near the intersection of 14 Ave. and Irwin Street.
The window was left down and the keys were left in the vehicle.
The next day (July 3) police were informed that the stolen vehicle was parked on the 500-block, Central St. West.
Officers from the detachment's street crew unit were called to assist but the vehicle had left by the time the vehicle could be recovered or an arrest made.
Yesterday (July 4) at approximately 11:45 a.m., a member of the detachment's Street Crew Unit located the vehicle being driven in an alleyway near the 400-block, 1 Ave. in Prince George.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver made multiple attempts to exit the alley, but was quickly surrounded by RCMP.
The driver stepped out of the vehicle and tried to escape by foot, but he was arrested soon after; another man in the vehicle was also arrested.

- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
