Police have arrested a 27-year-old man with firearms charges after an altercation near Prince George.

On Friday (April 26) at about 2 p.m., RCMP received a report about unwanted persons in a residence in Salmon Valley, which is about 30 minutes north of the city.

Officers attended the home when they learned that people were squatting inside and refusing to open the door.

Police then entered the residence and removed Ryan John Moore, the 27-year-old lone occupant.

As a result of observations made by officers while in the residence, they obtained a criminal code search warrant.

A search of the residence then followed, where officers found two loaded firearms, a pistol and a long gun, an unloaded long gun, brass knuckles, ammunition, and small amounts of cocaine, psilocybin and heroin/fentanyl.

The BC Prosecution Services has approved multiple charges Moore, a resident of Prince George, including careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a loaded firearm.

Moore has remained in custody since his arrest, but is expected to be released later today (April 29).

He is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on June 5.

A woman believed to be associated with the property was also found in a vehicle nearby and arrested, however, she was released without charges.
