Prince George man arrested for pair of robberies

A 25-year-old Prince George man is in custody and facing charges following a pair of violent robberies in the city over the weekend.

A 25-year-old Prince George man is in custody and facing charges following a pair of violent robberies in the city over the weekend.

Prince George RCMP received a report of a robbery with a firearm that occurred near the the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Vancouver Street in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 2.

Police say a 29-year-old man was walking home from a licensed establish when he was allegedly robbed of his wallet at gunpoint by an unknown adult Caucasian male.

The suspect and his unknown adult First Nations female accomplice fled on foot. Officers, including a police dog service team, attended the scene but did not locate the suspects. The victim was not hurt during the incident.

At 10 a.m. on Sunday, RCMP received a report of an assault in progress at a motel on Queensway Avenue in Prince George.

While en route to the scene, officers were provided with information that a handgun may be involved. The suspect fled prior to the police arriving, but was located a short distance away. A replica pellet pistol was located and seized.

Investigators believed the same man was responsible for both violent acts.

Provincial Crown Counsel has approved two counts of robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of use of a firearm while committing an indictable offence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose against Brent Lane Wilson of Prince George.

At the time of his arrest, Wilson was the subject of an arrest warrant out of Smithers. He is expected to appear in Provincial Court later today.
