A 38-year-old Prince George man faces charges after stealing numerous vehicles and other property.

In a release, Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says yesterday (March 9) at roughly 5 p.m., police in Smithers received a report of a man on a bike that had stolen a black Ford F-350.

The suspect had left behind a white Ford F-250 that had been reported stolen out of Terrace.

He was last seen speeding from the scene towards Telkwa.

At approximately 5:32 that evening, the Ford F-350 was stopped in the Hungry Hill area.

The suspect had left the black Ford F-350 behind and took off in a Ford F-150, also stolen, and was headed to Houston.

There were also reports that the stolen Ford F-150 may have had firearms and other weapons inside.

At 8:44 p.m., the Ford F-150 was 'chased away' by a property owner in the 5200-block, Highway 16 after the suspect was allegedly trying to take items from the property.

Once again, the suspect left behind the Ford F-150 and took off in a Chevy 3500. The vehicle would later be involved in a crash in Houston.

Less than one hour later, Saunderson says police received a report of another vehicle stolen.

A two-tone grey and blue GMC 2500 was taken from the 4800-block, Summit Lake Rd.

"Burns Lake RCMP and Fraser Lake RCMP were called to assist the police RCMP Detachments already involved," the release states.

At 11:30 p.m., Burns Lake RCMP officers found the reported stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a hospital. They tried to stop the suspect but he didn't stop and fled the area.

This morning (March 10) at 12:15 a.m., police officers found the stolen car crashed on Highway 16, west of Hawse Loop Road.

Police then received a report from a nearby home as someone was yelling that their snowmobile was being stolen. When police made their way to the home, the stolen sled drove at a high rate of speed, directly at police, narrowly missing two police cars.

The suspect fled down trails that police vehicles could not access.

Roughly 10 minutes later, police received another report that someone had stolen a Dodge plow truck from Bartlett Road and left behind a snowmobile. The plow truck was seen going eastbound on the highway.

Officers found the vehicle on Highway 16, close to Cougar Road. It was stopped in the travel portion of Highway 16.

While police positioned their cars to stop the suspect from fleeing, the suspect smashed into one police vehicle and revered and rammed into a second car.

Saunderson says since there was the possibility of firearms being present in one of the stolen vehicles, the suspect was arrested at gunpoint.

During the arrest, police seized drugs, which are suspected to be methamphetamines.

The Prince George man was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash before being released to the police.

He remains in custody and could be facing multiple charges.

A police officer was also treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained during the arrest.
