A Prince George man, well known to police, has been arrested after stolen items were recovered.

RCMP say they received a call from a concerned citizen on Wednesday (July 31) after they allegedly saw an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) being hidden behind an old mattress in the backyard of a home in the 1300-block Carney St.

When police arrived, they found the ATV that had been stolen a day earlier from another home in the city.

Police also inspected the yard and shed on the property and found other stolen items including three rifles, bikes, and power and hand tools.

A local man was then arrested and held on outstanding warrants.

"Prince George RCMP ask anyone who may have been a victim of theft and not reported the incident, to call the Prince George RCMP Detachment and provide details of their loss including any available serial numbers or descriptors," a news release says. "Police would like to reunite the stolen items with their rightful owners."

RCMP are also reminding homeowners to ensure yards and sheds are locked and not attractive to thieves.

The investigation continues and if you have any information, you are asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
