Prince George launches annual interactive budget survey

Simulator allows residents to see how their tax dollars can be allocated to different services

Do you want a say in how your city tax dollars are spent? The city is launching its 2022 Budget Survey which gives residents and business operators an opportunity to provide feedback about the budget allocations for various city services.

The city annually conducts a public survey to gain input about budget priorities.

The online survey is interactive allowing users to enter their property assessment into a budget simulator to see how their personal or business property tax is allocated across a variety of city services.

The tool also indicates how their choices about the financial allocations to service areas would be reflected in their property taxes.

The survey covers a variety of city service areas. Examples include:

  • Police, fire protection, and Bylaw enforcement
  • Snow and ice control
  • Parks, trails, and beautification
  • Recreation and Community Facilities
  • Roads and sidewalks
  • Attracting/retaining business and facilitating development
  • Community support

The results will be presented for Council’s consideration at the outset of 2022 budget deliberations next year.

The survey closes at midnight on Oct. 29.
