Prince George Hospice Society is set to once again celebrate life with colour next month.
Its third annual Colour Walk is slated for all of May as COVID-19 is still a part of daily life, meaning it will follow suit with last year's edition in encouraging the community to take part with their “bubble” from the safety of their own favourite walking destinations.
This year, Hospice has teamed up with Tourism Prince George to introduce some of the city’s parks and walking destinations around town.
The 2021 challenge is to walk 100 km between May 1 and 31.
Participants can visit the Facebook group PG Hospice Colour Walk to share pictures while completing the Colour Walk challenge, to which a grand prize is set to be given away to one lucky person that visits all of the featured parks.
Hospice will also be featuring a weekly colour sponsor who will provide games like 'I Spy,' sidewalk chalk drawing competitions and many other fun things to encourage everyone along the way.
You can get involved by either walking, raising pledges, or supporting somebody else that is walking their 100 km. You can also join as a family, as an individual or as a team as the goal may be shared among your team members.
A Staycation Family Package from the Prestige Hotel will be given to the team or individual who raises the most pledges.
The money raised will directly support the Rotary Hospice House, and Hospice gardens.
Registration is free and available online, but you can also pick up some extra goodies:
- Share our Colours - colour powder - $10
- Colour Walk Kids Kit (child) with t-shirt, colour powder and sunglasses - $20
- Colour Walk Adult Kit (adult) with t-shirt, colour powder - $25
Tourism Prince George has also put together 100 swag bags for the first 100 people that register.
