Even though it’s been rainy on and off for the last few days, you might remember the beginning of June was warm and dry.
In fact, it was actually the 12th driest June on record for Prince George.
“We only got 47.7 per cent of the normal precipitation making it the 12th driest June on record in Prince George,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon.
“Looking back here, it looks like we didn’t get any measurable precipitation in Prince George until June 12. So we went almost the first two weeks of June without any precipitation at all.”
As far as temperature goes, Prince George was pretty average for June, only 0.7 C cooler at 13.1 C than the average mean at 13.8 C.
Sekhon says the weather will be all over the map for the next week, but as we get into July, we can expect warmer temperatures.
“It’s a little bit all over the place for the next week or so but I think the trend is that as we approach mid-July that we are going to start to see warmer than normal temperatures and a bit drier too.”
He also notes to be on the look for thunderstorms in the forecast as it’s typical for this time of year when there’s also a chance of rain.
“When thunder roars go indoors,” adds Sekhon.
