Prince George couple Doreen and Clifford Klages were honoured Tuesday at the B.C. Legislature in Victoria for their years of commitment as foster parents.

Over 45 years, the Klages have taken in more than 50 children.

"It takes very special people to spend decades of their lives providing loving, caring, stable homes for vulnerable children and youth in our province," Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond said.

The Klages were among several foster parents whose contributions were acknowledged during a luncheon as part of Foster Family Month.

The event was hosted by Children and Family Development Minister Stephanie Cadieux and Speaker of the Legislature Linda Reid.

"It was an honour to be brought down here to speak with the minister and also to have my MLA come and speak with me too," Doreen Klages said.
