PHOTOS: Large chip pile fire causes $10K in damage at Brink Forest Products in Prince George

Employees evacuated, River Road blocked for several hours

A large chip pile fire forced the evacuation of the Brink Forests Products in Prince George today (July 9).

According to Fire Rescue, an estimated $10,000 in damages was sustained at its River Road location, which was closed for several hours while crews tended to the incident.

Brink staff members were immediately evacuated with no injuries reported.

Almost 20 firefighters responded to the alarm around 1:30 p.m., but quickly extinguished the blaze.

In a release, Assistant Chief Glen Nowoczin says the cause of the fire is still being determined.
