Prince George Fire Rescue tackled a house fire on 20th Avenue last night (May 9).

At about 7 p.m. crews from three halls responded to the report of a residential structure fire on the 1000-block of 20th Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the structure and light flame coming from the back of the building.

Fire crews performed an interior attack and extinguished the fire. Assistant Fire Chief Fred Wilkinson says there was no one in the structure at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Damage is estimated at $90,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the RCMP.
