Prince George Fire Rescue has extinguished a suspected electrical fire that started in outbuildings on Old Summit Lake Road.

At about 11:26 a.m. on Friday, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a report of an outbuilding fire in the 7000 block of Old Summit Lake Road.

Arriving crews reported heavy smoke coming from the opening of a barn. The crews entered the building, where they were able to confine the flames to a 30-foot travel trailer.

Once the trailer was clear of any other structures, the trailer was extinguished.

Damage from this fire was estimated to be $80,000 and the cause of the fire is suspected to be electrical.

Prince George Fire Rescue said it would encourage everyone to use space heaters cautiously through the winter season.
