Prince George film company hosting cast, crew calls for upcoming project in Barkerville

Barker Street Cinema hopes to draw interest as movie industry trots through COVID-19

The movie industry has undoubtedly taken a hit by COVID-19, but it appears productions across the world are starting to pick up pace.

The same can be said for Prince George and locally-based Barker Street Cinema, which has put out a cast-and-crew call in need of local and regional talent for its next production, with filming currently scheduled to take place Oct. 31 to Nov. 30.

Though the project is untitled at this point, the company says the movie’s setting is in Barkerville.

Barker Street is hoping those aspiring to be actors or film-crew workers can step forward and apply.

Specifically to the cast, it's looking for people to fill the following roles:

  • Caucasian (Extras) 
  • Chinese/Asian (Extras)
  • South Asian - traditional Sikh (Extras) 

With respect to crew members, the following positions are being offered:

  • Camera operators
  • Hair and makeup artists
  • Production assistants
  • Props and continuity  
  • Set designers
  • Sound

Barker Street explains all of the above positions are paid and non-unionized.

It's 2017 production of The Doctor's Case was recently nominated for three awards at the Romford Film Festival in East London, U.K., it's first set of international nods.
