Good news for those who like to visit the local farmers market every weekend.
The city says the Prince George Farmers' Market is set to reopen this Saturday (June 6) after being temporarily closed due to COVID-19 public health recommendations.
It’s providing the association with a permit to operate downtown for a third straight season.
However, the Farmers' Market building at the corner of Third Avenue and Quebec Street will only be able to accommodate up to 50 people to account for physical-distancing measures in the market’s plans.
In addition to operating in the facility (1310 3 Ave.) and on Quebec Street between Second and Third Avenues, the city says a portion of the adjacent parking lot will also be available for vendors.
“Patrons are encouraged to stay home if they are sick, maintain physical distancing, wash their hands, and use contactless payment methods,” reads a city statement.
“Many market vendors also provide opportunities to order online and provide home delivery services.”
The Wilson Square Community Market has been in operation since May 2 after it was granted a permit in late April for Third Avenue between George Street and Queensway.
It’s also developed plans for safe social distancing between patrons and vendors.
