Prince George is one step closer to getting its first BC-regulated cannabis store.

For the first time, a cannabis retail application will be heard at Prince George's city council meeting Monday night.

The Liquor Distribution Branch of British Columbia (LBD) has submitted an application to open a government operated cannabis retail store in College Heights.

The store would be located at Unit 20 – 6565 Southridge Ave.

The LDB says they have selected this location for a proposed cannabis retail store because its located in a large retail complex, it’s easily accessible to customers and it’s not expected to adversely impact traffic in the surrounding area, given its location in an already established retail complex.

Mayor and council will hear the first and second readings of the rezoning application at the next city council meeting which takes place Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.

If you can’t attend the 6 p.m. council meeting, you can livestream it from the comfort of your own home, and if you’re too busy to watch it, you can come back and check it out later.

The city archives all livestreams.

You can also read the full agenda and browse through the Liquor and Cannabis Branch Application package for more info on the proposed store.
