Prince George Conservation Officers monitoring moose with missing leg

Animal seen in Aberdeen area getting by on three legs

The BC Conservation Officer Service says it is actively monitoring a moose that appears to be getting by just fine on three legs in the Aberdeen area.

"In consultation with the provincial wildlife veterinarian, officers continue to evaluate the condition of this moose. With the animal remaining mobile and foraging naturally, no intervention is necessary at this time," the BCCOS said in a statement issued Wednesday.

COS said the moose has an injury to its left hind leg and they suspect it was hit by a vehicle on the highway in early November.

The COS asks the public to report to the RAPP line (1-877-952-7277) if any wildlife exhibits unnatural behaviour, becomes immobile or stops feeding.
